About Us
Información sin Barreras, formerly known as ContraCovid NYC, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping unemployed and low income individuals across New York City. We are a group of public health professionals and students from around the world who are dedicated to ensuring marginalized individuals have the information and tools needed to empower themselves and their families.
Originally founded in 2020 by Harvard Medical students and graduate students around the US, we began as ContraCovid, helping underserved communities navigate medical and social services through the pandemic. By 2021, we expanded our reach beyond healthcare, evolving into Información sin Barreras—our name, created by translation team founder Lucía Santacruz, reflects our ongoing commitment to making vital resources available to all, without barriers.
